2008 FSSA NEWS

This is going to be a great year for the FSSA stated Ed Rose, Executive Director. We are planning several major events that Senior Softball Players need to take note of.

First, we start the year with our annual FSSA trip to Maui. This year it will be our 1st annual FSSA World Tournament. We are hosting age brackets from 35 through 70+. It is going to be a great tournament as well as trip. Everyone who has ever been can tell you that stated Rose. (more details)

Second, we are working in conjuction with Senior Softball Players Association, Ridge Hooks, to develop new and more exciting senior softball tours for everyone who plays in the SPA!

Third, we are also working with the Florida Seniors League to host local and regional tournaments for seniors. Starting with the USSSA State Championships in June and at the ball fields in Palm Bay, Florida. Teams from Florida who want to play in the USSSA Senior Worlds in August must play in this qualifier. The FSSA is branching out and will include lots of activities in 2009. Look forward to the following FSSA events in 2009:

- Cruise with the Boston Red Sox
- World Tournament in San Diego
- Baja California Cruise
- Little League Basebal Tour Maui
- Alaska Cruise

Slo-Pitch Softball State Tournament & World Qualifier

Games will be played at Liberty Park in Palm Bay, FL.

Directions to fields are: Take I-95 to EXIT 173, which is MALABAR Road, and go WEST to EMERSON Drive. Make a Left at EMERSON. Pass JUPITER Blvd., (there will be a sing on your right directing you to make a LEFT TURN on STARLAND into the south entrance of the fields.

Tournament will be a Double Elimination with a 3 game guarantee.

Play will be governed by USSSA rules. Florida teams wishing to play in the 2008 Seniors World, which will be held in August in Panama City, Florida, MUST Qualify for it by entering this tourney.

Brackets will include 40+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+ & 70’s.

NOTE: Only USSSA Approved Bats will be allowed.
